Senior IT Operations Specialist

The Cardano Foundation is the independent, non-profit organisation responsible for stewarding the advancement of the public, permissionless blockchain platform Cardano. Based in Switzerland, the Foundation works to facilitate the use of Cardano in mission critical applications across a wide range of industries and markets, anchoring use cases in the off-line world and encouraging active on-chain participation and governance.

What you’ll be doing:

This individual will oversee the daily running of IT operations and IT support for the Cardano Foundation and will lead a team managing IT infrastructure for a globally distributed workforce. They have experience with IT performance management, network administration and system security and are familiar with data protection standards and regulations.

  • Oversee day to day IT operations allocating and managing resources among the team.

  • Ensure compliance with all internal IT standards policies.

  • Report progress on planned projects and activities to the Director of Infrastructure.

  • Work with the operations team to ensure onboarding and off-boarding of users.

  • Maintain internal office automation, network services and business applications.

  • Maintain an inventory of all IT assets throughout life cycles.

  • Provision and maintain workstations, mobile devices and laptops for foundation personnel working on site and remotely.

  • Ensure security compliance with all devices used by employees in the foundation.

  • Ensure document and drive permissions are maintained and meet the required policy standard.

  • Ensure data is handled, transferred or processed according to legal and company guidelines

  • Hardware and software procurement.

  • Maintain vendor software licences and subscriptions.

  • Ensure backups are performed successfully where necessary and data is securely stored meeting requirements for disaster recovery.

  • Assess new business applications that could be of use by the organisation and by providing a cost/benefit analysis.

  • Provide help desk, ticketing system and end user support for workstations, mobile devices and laptops for both on site and remote users.

  • Manage social media channel subscriptions and accounts.

  • Play an integral part in scaling up IT operations and implementing best practices as the organisation grows.

What we look for in you:
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer Science, Engineering or similar

  • 5 + years of IT Operations experience managing remote and on site infrastructure covering a variety of operational areas.

  • Experience leading a team.

  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • You are kind and respectful of others' opinions and value an open and collaborative work culture.

  • You enjoy working in the support of others to help resolve issues. 


Experience with: 

  • Google Workspace administration.

  • Mac OS X desktop administration

  • IOS / Android mobile device management

  • Linux systems administration 

Nice to have:
  • An understanding of blockchain technology, Proof of Stake, UTXO, wallets and key management.
